Aare Gorge

This photographic project was created in the impressive Aare Gorge near Meiringen – a place where the raw power of nature meets serene grandeur. The series not only documents the spectacular rock formations and the interplay of water and stone, but above all captures the unique atmosphere of this place: the twilight, punctuated by individual rays of light, the echo of the water, the coolness of the narrow gorge.

The photographic challenge lay in the extreme lighting conditions – deep darkness, isolated bursts of light, and constant movement. I deliberately experimented with exposure time, ISO settings, and different lenses to authentically capture the natural mood without artificially altering it. The result is a series of images that not only document but also tell a story – of depth, contrast, and the magic of the moment.

The photographs of the surrounding landscape complement the series and frame the rugged interior of the gorge: lush forests, steep cliffs, and the constant murmur of the Aare River as a unifying element.
